greetings with your parents and families I'm Doreen O'Leary and I am so happy and excited to be your new Elementary School principal I know that they'll be a time in the not-too-distant future when will be able to meet in person but I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself and also tell you a little bit about my background so I'm actually from Southern California I was born in Santa Monica and grew up in Pacific Palisades I met my husband when we were graduate students at UCLA we married and had three sons John Patrick and Michael when our children were still very young we relocated to the East Coast a small town in Connecticut just outside of New York City for. Of time I was home with our children volunteering in their schools and also serving as an elected member of the local Board of Education my youngest son started kindergarten I returned to work as an elementary school teacher and also is a curriculum leader and for the past 10 years I've served as an elementary school principal in school Ferry similar to Luther in that role I focused on creating a curriculum that sets high expectations for all children and also provides academic and social emotional interventions to make sure can't you meet those expectations about a year ago I returned to Southern California where I still have many dear friends and also extended family and I took on the role at a small private school in a neighboring community help them safely returned to on Campus Learning and also expand their instructional program I've also been enjoying California the beautiful sunshine and beaches and immersing myself in some personal interest including classical music and reading especially Mysteries I so look forward to meeting all of you in person I'm getting to know you and your children but in the meantime I wish you safe and happy summer and I look forward to seeing you
